This project was to design a pedestrian bridge that would provide a connection from the Mission Hills neighborhood to the Pioneer Park at three points (Stephens Street, Washington Place and Pioneer Park). I generated my design by developing a series of parti models. Using my woven, looped and continuous parti model, I extracted specific loops to create the paths and structure of the bridge. I wanted to design a bridge that would be a destination, rather than merely a form of transportation. In other words, the concept of this bridge is not only to displace a person from point A to point B, but also to evoke a unique and exhilarating experience to the pedestrian.
